20 high courts did not file report condition toilets courts Supreme Court Expressed Displeasure

New Delhi. 20 High Courts of the country have not filed a report regarding the status of toilets in the courts. The Supreme Court has expressed displeasure over this. On January 15, the Supreme Court directed to provide toilet facilities in all the courts and tribunals of the country. Also sought a report from all the High Courts. A bench of Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice R. Mahadevan strictly said that this was the last chance. In the next eight weeks, serious consequences will have to be suffered if the report is not filed.

On 15 January, the Supreme Court in its judgment said that access to proper hygiene under Article 21 of the Constitution has been considered a fundamental right. The court had asked the High Courts, State Governments and Union Territories to ensure different toilets for men, women, disabled people and transgender persons in all court premises and tribunals. The court also sought a status report within four months.
