Police handed over from CCTV and call details
The police got the first information when on July 3, a woman named Sangeeta Devi lodged a complaint with the Manaknagar police station. She told that she was going by e-rickshaw, when the women sitting together stole her gold chain. In view of the seriousness of the case, the police scrutinized the footage of CCTV cameras around the scene and called the call details of the suspected numbers. On the basis of these clues, the accused were identified and arrested.
A total of 5 vicious thieves including 4 women arrested
The police team said that 4 other women accused named Manti Devi, Kavita, Lalitha Devi and Bindu Devi, who were involved in the theft from women sitting in e -rickshaws, have been arrested. A gold chain, Rs 11,450 cash and a white Swift Dzire car have been recovered from these women, which were being used for the incident. During interrogation, the accused have confessed to carrying out many chain snatching incidents in other districts besides Lucknow.
Riding in a rickshaw, he used to commit theft incident
Police investigation revealed that these women used to work under a special strategy. She herself rode in an e-rickshaw and would make women already sitting prey. During the journey, they used to steal jewelry by entangling in talks or taking advantage of congestion. After the incident, they used to change the location immediately so that they could not be caught. His target was usually an elderly or alone women.
Many cases are already registered, network investigation continues
Manaknagar Inspector said that four cases of chain snatching have already been registered against the accused in the metropolitan, Hasanganj and Manaknagar police stations of Lucknow.
