Up news: Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has again come under dispute. 44,094 crore was spent to improve the power system in the state under the Central Government’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), but the situation did not show the expected improvement. Dr. Ashish Kumar Goyal, Chairman of the Corporation himself, recently admitted in a review meeting that the system has not come back on track.
Direct attack on corporation management
After this revelation, there has been a stir in the Energy Department and several employee organizations, including the Consumer Council, have directly attacked the top management of the Power Corporation. Council officials allege that this is not only technical failure, but a result of mismanagement and planned negligence. He said that when money has been spent on such a large scale and even then problems like power cuts, low voltage and tripping have been made in large numbers. This simply means serious flaws in the implementation of the scheme.
Large failure of electricity system
In the midst of this dispute, the government is trying to make the failure of the power system the basis of privatization. According to the Consumer Council and many experts, the schemes have been intentionally failing and erected that the public sector cannot handle the power system and it is to be resolved only in the hands of private companies. The Consumer Council says that if electricity is privatized, it will play with the future of crores of consumers and thousands of employees.
Employee organizations warned
Many employee organizations of the country have warned that if any part of the electricity department is privatized, the state -wide jail will be started. The demand for resignation from the chairman and other top officials is now gaining momentum regarding the management’s failure. The Consumer Council says that when the money is not improved by spending such a large scale, the responsible officers should leave the post taking moral responsibility. The dispute of power system may intensify in the coming days.
