Meerut News: In view of the increased movement and security reasons in the district during the Shivaratri and Kavad Yatra of Shravan month, Dr. V.K. Singh has issued an important order. Under this order, a holiday has been declared in all educational institutions of the district from 16 July to 23 July 2025.
In the order issued by the District Magistrate on Tuesday, it has been clarified that the main festival is falling on 23 July, and on this day there will be Jalabhishek of Kanwari. In view of the huge crowd of devotees on the Kawad routes, the safety of the students is paramount, in view of which this decision has been taken.
According to the order, all the primary and higher-primary schools run under the Basic Education Council, all the Inter College, CBSE and ICSE-affiliated schools under the Department of Secondary Education, Madrasa under Madrasa Board, as well as all degree colleges and technical institutes will remain closed from July 16 to July 23.
District administration and police will continue patrolling
The administration has warned strictly that if a educational institution is found to be open during the holiday period, strict action will be taken against it. Officials have also clarified that the district administration and police will continuously patrol the traffic system during the Kanwar Yatra and to deal with emergency situations and keep a close watch on the entire system.
It is noteworthy that every year in Sawan, lakhs of devotees take Ganga water and travel on foot from Haridwar to the pagoda of their respective cities. The administration has made arrangements to deploy special barricades, medical camps and adequate police forces on the major Kavad routes passing through Meerut district. In view of previous years experiences in the district, it has been decided to close educational institutions prematurely this time, so that the crowd and traffic pressure do not cause any inconvenience to the students and parents and the journey can be done peacefully.
