Meerut News: After about 12 years in the famous Sabir murder case in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, the court sentenced 4 accused to life imprisonment, giving a historic verdict. The decision has come on the basis of strong lobbying and concrete evidence presented by the Meerut Police under the “Operation Conviction” campaign, which has given justice to the victim’s family.

This sensational case is from the year 2013, when a person named Imamuddin filed a report of murder of his son Sabir at the police station Lisadi Gate. The report said that by calling Sabir from the house on the pretext of conversation with Shaukat, five youths together murdered him and tried to erase identity by cutting the body into pieces. This barbaric incident shook the entire city.

Identification of accused

The police, showing readiness, identified the accused as Rizwan son Yusuf, Bunty son Azhar, Ashu alias Wasim son Salim, Majja son Mojam and Zubair son Jabbar. In February and March 2013, all the accused were arrested and sent to jail. The case was discussed by the then police station in -charge Ranveer Singh Yadav.

Under the ongoing “Operation Conviction” campaign on the instructions of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Lisadi Gate Police, under the supervision of Superintendent of Police and Jurisdictional Kotwali, lobbied a strong advocate in the case. The purpose of this campaign is to rapid hearing in serious cases and punish the culprits.

The court ruled in this case on 16 July

Additional District Judge-06 Shri Om Prakash Navam’s court ruled in this case on 16 July. The court pronounced life imprisonment and ₹ 10,000 in Section 302/149 IPC, 7 years imprisonment in Section 201 and ₹ 5,000 fine in Section 2019, and 3 years in the Arms Act and a fine of ₹ 1 thousand. Zubair, the fifth accused in the case, had died during the trial.

After this decision, the victim’s family has breathed a sigh of relief and praised the working style of the Meerut Police. This punishment will further strengthen the public confidence in the judicial system and the criminals will also get a tough message.
