DM-SP in Shamli on the streets, taking away from Kanwari
As soon as Shravan month begins, devotees of Bhole, who brought Ganga water from Haridwar, move towards Haryana, Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan via Shamli. So far, more than one lakh kanwadis have passed through Shamli, due to which the promptness of the police administration in the district is clearly visible.
Shamli’s DM Arvind Kumar Chauhan and SP Ramsevak Gautam are constantly taking to the streets and inspecting every intersection, watch tower and additional posts. They are monitoring the Kanwar Marg from UP border to Haryana border. Officers are stopping the Kanwari from place to place and asking them about the condition and taking feedback of the arrangements.
On talking to the Kanwari, he appreciated the arrangements and said that he is not facing any kind of trouble. The deployment of camps, camps and police administration is providing security and assistance to the Kanwari. An ambulance has also been arranged for any emergency or accident. This shows how serious and active the Shamli administration is about the Kavad Yatra.
Haryana resident Ashok Kumar Prajapati’s unique Dandavat Kanwar
While the administration is engaged in security and system, Ashok Kumar Prajapati, a resident of village Garhi in Panipat district of Haryana, is showing his extraordinary devotion. He is bringing Dandavat Kavad from Haridwar with holy Ganga water. This is his first Dandavat Kanwar, although he has been continuously bringing Kavad for the last 18 years.
Ashok Kumar started this Dandavat Yatra from Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar on July 5, and he will continue to travel to his destination. They are traveling alone without any colleague. Their way of travel is extremely unique: they first lay a piece of plastic on the ground, lay on it, and then move the same piece for the next step.
Ashok Kumar also expressed his concern over the sabotage and drug consumption being done by some kanvadis during the visit. He said that the real kanvad should be brought with clean and true heart. He believes that some kanwadis add to “sulfa”, which they call “Maha Chor”. Their message is clear: true devotion is in Mahadev and this journey should be done directly and true, not with sabotage or intoxication. Ashok Kumar Prajapati’s Dandavat Kanwar Yatra remains a source of inspiration for thousands of people, who is teaching him the lesson of devotion, restraint and discipline.
