Muzaffarnagar news: The apprehension of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has once again proved to be true. The Civil Line Police Station of Muzaffarnagar district has arrested five such accused, who were spreading anarchy by entering the Kavad Seva camps in disguise of Kanwari and hurting religious sentiments. The arrested accused include Suhail, Sherkhan (aka Chowk), Asif (two persons), Shadab and Abid.
According to the police, these accused used to enter the Kavad camps wearing Hindu names and saffron clothes and steal the goods of Shiva devotees, especially mobiles and bags. Such antics were not only carrying out criminal incidents, but were also hurting religious sentiments, which threatened the atmosphere of the district and the state.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muzaffarnagar, Sanjay Kumar Verma said that on July 14, all these accused have been arrested and sent to jail in an attempt to steal from a Kanwar camp. The SSP informed that all these accused are vicious crooks and their criminal history is also registered in many districts, such as GRP and Saharanpur. Now the police is taking action against all these accused under the Gangster Act.
In 2023, 72 mobiles stolen in similar way
SSP Verma described it as a “disclosure of a very serious and sensational case”. He said that a miscreant named Abid had stolen 72 mobiles in 2023, for which he was sent to jail. Following these arrests, the police have formed three teams to locate their forward and backward links, including civil police, SOG/surveillance and a special SIT team.
The activists and officials of the Hindu Yuva Vahini also supported the police in search of such suspects and informed the officials in time, after which this big action was taken. Police say a case has been filed against these people under various sections, including 318, 298 and sections related to religious sentiments. The strict action of the gangster is being ensured on these as they were working for the same purpose by forming gangs, which could have spoiled the law and order. A large conspiracy has been thwarted by the police activeness.
