The Center will soon launch the PM Swanidhi Yojana 2.0, under which the street vendors will be provided a loan of up to Rs 50,000 with 7% annual interest subsidy and UPI-Linked Credit Card with a limit of Rs 30,000. Recently, this information was given by official financial sources. Let us know that by March 31, 2025, 68 lakh street vendors received loans of Rs 13,792 crore in total through this scheme.
Start with a loan of 10 thousand rupees
Self -realization scheme provides a working capital loan up to Rs 10,000 without any guarantee for a period of one year. Re-payment of this loan on time increases the limit. After this, up to Rs 20,000 and up to 50,000 facilities are provided. In the scheme, regular re-payment is encouraged through interest subsidy at the rate of 7 percent per year. At the same time, digital transactions are encouraged through cashback up to Rs 1,200 per year.
The objective of this scheme is to formalize street vendors and open new opportunities for economic advancement for the region. In various regions/references, they are known by the names of seller, hawker, cartwala, rehdiwala, cart-fadwala etc. The items supplied by them include vegetables, fruits, ready-to-eat street food, tea, pakoras, bread, eggs, cloths, apparels, shoes, artisan products, books/stationery etc. The services provided by them include barber shops, cobbler, paan shops, laundry services etc.
