Rudraprayag. Due to Landslide Kedarnath Yatra was temporarily stopped (Kedarnath Yatra Temporarily Suspended).
In Rumasi village of Agastyamuni block of Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, on Friday night (midnight on July 25), there was a severe natural disaster when a sudden cloudburst occurred in the area. After this accident, there was chaos in many villages including Bijayanagar. Water entered the houses, many vehicles were damaged and a large amount of agricultural land was destroyed. However, it is a matter of relief that no loss of life or property has been reported in this disaster so far. With the cloudburst, debris and water flowed into the residential areas at many places. Local administration and disaster management teams are on alert. Due to heavy rains, landslides in the area are also continuously happening, due to which life has been disturbed.
This disaster has also affected the Kedarnath Yatra. According to information received from SDRF Post Sonprayag on Saturday, there is a constant landslide in the areas ahead of Sonprayag. Because of this, the journey route has been partially damaged and keeping in mind the safety of passengers, the Kedarnath Yatra has been temporarily stopped at Gaurikund. On receiving the information of the incident, the SDRF team immediately left for the spot under the leadership of Sub Inspector Ashish Dimri. The team reached the spot and started relief work from vigilance and understanding. During this time, about 100 passengers trapped on the way were evacuated safely.
With the help of PWD laborers, the work of constructing the alternative route is also going on a war footing, so that traffic can be restored as soon as possible and pilgrims can get safe routes for further travel. The SDRF team is constantly stuck in the affected area and is keeping an eye on every situation.
