Sonbhadra News: In May, the horrific heat has broken all the records of electricity consumption in the month of May. In May last year, the maximum consumption of electricity was recorded between 28 to 29 thousand MW. At the same time, this time even in the third week of May, the maximum consumption of electricity increased to 29873 MW. Due to this, the system control had to resort to cuts in several parts with the purchase of expensive electricity. At the same time, given the ever increasing power consumption, this year another big record is expected to be made regarding electricity consumption.
Let us tell you that the consumption of electricity in the heat season last year left behind the consumption of all the states of the country, not only UP. Last year, where the maximum demand was recorded at 30732 MW on July 29. At the same time, the record of maximum availability of electricity was recorded on 13 June 2024 30032 MW. Given the situation, where the energy minister had to appeal for an electrical use of electricity. At the same time, this year also on the very first day of May, the consumption of electricity is engaged in creating a new level of records.
Something like this is increasing power consumption figure
On the first day of May, where the heat figure was around 38 degrees. At the same time, maximum consumption of electricity was recorded at 25837 MW. On May 9, the mercury began to cross 40 degrees and its power consumption reached 26715 MW, as well as a rapid increase in both demand and consumption began. On May 12, the demand for electricity on 28066 MW and on May 18, the mercury reached 41 degrees, the demand for electricity reached 29047 MW. On May 19, 29490 and on the night of 20 May, the maximum demand and consumption of electricity was recorded at 29873 MW.
Better relief from better production from state sector units
On the one hand, both power consumption and demand are increasing rapidly. On the other hand, there is a big relief in the availability of better production, cheap electricity from the units of the state sector. Along with the production from all the power projects in Obra and Anpara in the state sector, production started from the second unit of Obra C, giving a big message of relief. However, due to some technical reasons, the unit has to be closed two days after being taken on production at full capacity i.e. around 4:30 pm on Tuesday evening. By Wednesday night, this unit was expected to be taken again on production with full capacity.
