The Indian Army Deputy Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Rahul R Singh on Friday discussed the challenges during the India-Pakistan border tension and operation vermilion at the New Edge Military Technologies program organized by FICCI in Delhi on Friday. He said that during this operation, Pakistan as well as China and Turkey also played an important role, which made India felt the need to further strengthen its aerial defense system.
Role of China
Lieutenant General Rahul R Singh revealed that during Operation Sindoor, Pakistan was getting real-time intelligence from China. He said, “When DGMO level talks were being held between India and Pakistan, Pakistan was getting live information about our military activities. This information was coming from China.” He reported that Pakistan has 81% of military equipment Chinese, and this operation provided a live lab opportunity to test its weapons for China.
Turkish role
Lieutenant General Singh said that Turkey had provided drones and other assistance to Pakistan. He said that Turkey provided drones and trained soldiers such as Bitkar to Pakistan during the war. He also said that now India faced the challenge of dealing with three fronts – Pakistan, China and Türkiye together.
Why did Pakistan ask for ceasefire?
Lieutenant General Singh said that Pakistan had to demand ceasefire due to accurate and effective action of the Indian Army in Operation Sindoor. He said, “Another major attack was ready, and Pakistan realized that if this attack took place, their situation would deteriorate. So they pleaded for the ceasefire.” This reflects India’s military strength and diplomatic cleverness.
Aerial defense needs
Lieutenant General Singh described India’s air defense system as strong, but he also said that we have to be more alert for future dangers. He said, “This time our cities and populated areas were not attacked, but next time we have to be ready for it.” He also said that India needs to develop a strong and multi-level air defense system, so that the threats coming from countries like Pakistan, China and Turkey can be fought.
Deputy Army Chief’s statement on ceasefire decision
Lieutenant General Singh also commented on the ceasefire’s decision. He said, “When we achieve a military goal, we should try to stop it. It is easy to start a war, but it is very difficult to control it. So I tried to stop the war at the right time, considering the ceasefire as a great step.
