Airtel Uses AI to Protect 15 Million Users from Cyber Fraud in UP East | Airtel का बड़ा कदम, AI के जरिये यूपी (ईस्ट) में 1.5 करोड़ यूजर्स को साइबर फ्रॉड से बचाया

India’s telecom company Bharti Airtel has further strengthened its security system in view of the increasing cases of cyber fraud in Uttar Pradesh (East). Within 56 days, the company has saved more than 1 crore 50 lakh mobile and broadband customers from online fraud. This achievement has been achieved through Airtel’s recently launched AI-based cyber fraud detection system, which is being implemented in a phased manner across the country. It is particularly effectively adopted in Uttar Pradesh (East).

Cooperation in dealing with cyber fraud

Under this initiative, Airtel UP (East) CEO Amit Gupta met ADG technical services, UP Police, Mr. Naveen Arora (IPS) and discussed the challenges of increasing digital fraud in the area. In this conversation, Airtel’s new technology and steps being taken for cyber security at the state level were highlighted.

This system of Airtel is automatically activated without any manual installation and monitors mobile data traffic. It scans the links sent through mediums like SMS, WhatsApp, Email, Instagram, Facebook, Telegram and blocks dangerous websites in just 100 milliseconds.

For example, if a consumer of Prayagraj clicks on a suspicious link (eg: “http://www.tracky0urparcell.com”), Airtel’s AI-system scans that URL. If the link is connected to fishing or malware, the user is immediately redirected to a safe page with a warning message:

“Blocked! Airtel has found this site dangerous.”

A digital safety shield for the state

Uttar Pradesh is becoming increasingly digital. Fraud cases have also increased there. Whether it is urban areas or rural areas. Frauders are active in districts like Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Jaunpur, Kushinagar, Mau and Mirzapur, which are targeting common people with fake delivery, bank alerts and fishing links. This initiative of Airtel is proving beneficial for all classes. Whether they are students, housewives, elderly, or consumers using smartphones for the first time.

Alert and awareness being done in local languages

This AI-based system sends alerts to many languages including Hindi. Due to which people are also being alert in low digital literacy areas. This multilingual feature is designed keeping in mind the social diversity of the state. Consumers do not need to install a separate app for this technique and this service is completely free. This system quietly works in the background. Due to which there is no hindrance in the user’s experience.

Saved from great fraud at national level also

This technology of Airtel has blocked more than 2.12 lakh harmful links not only in UP (East) but across the country so far and has saved more than 14.3 crore people from fraud.

Regarding this, CEO (UP East) Amit Gupta said, “We are committed to provide security to our customers in every digital interaction.” Our solution is a major step towards creating a safe digital environment in Uttar Pradesh (East). We want people to use the digital world with confidence.
