Lucknow News: Cervical cancer does not only happen to women, it also happens to men. It also engulfs men as it increases unprotected sex. Now cervical cancer is also spreading rapidly for men and lesbians. Human papillomavirus (HPV) cases have increased significantly in men in US, Europe. 26 percent of men are infected in total cases of cervical cancer in India. Accordingly, every fourth man in India has HPV. This information was given by Dr. Ashutosh Verma, Vice President of Lucknow Academy of Pediatrics.
The Concure HPV and Cancer Conclave was organized by the Serum Institute of India at Hotel Taj in Gomti Nagar under the Public Health Initiative. Dr. Abhishek Bansal, former president of the Lucknow Academy of Pediatrics, said that India is constantly facing the challenge of HPV related diseases. Cervical cervical has become the second largest cancer after breast cancer in the country. According to ICO, IARC Infrastructure Center on HPV and Cancer 2023, every year, about 1.25 lakh cervical cancer cases occur in India. Of these, 77 thousand deaths occur.
Dr. Sangeeta Mehrotra and Dr. Soumya Gupta of Cancer Institute said that HPV not only causes cervical cancer, but also has six types of cancer including vagina, anus, gender, oropharyncs. It affects women and men equally. The risk of HPV infection is higher between the ages of 15 and 25 years. To prevent this, three doses of HPV vaccine are installed from the age of nine years. The dose prepared by Serum Institute is being imposed for just two thousand rupees. On this occasion, Dr. Sonia Luthra, Dr. Utkarsh Bansal also shared views on cervical cancer.
