New Delhi . Delhi Government (Delhi Government) knocked on the door of the Supreme Court on Regarding The Door of Supreme Court. The Delhi government demanded a review of the ban on diesel vehicles more than 10 years old in the Delhi-NCR area and the ban on petrol vehicles more than 15 years old in the Delhi-NCR region.
The Delhi government argues that the existing policy is putting improper pressure on the middle class. Rekha Gupta government has demanded a reconsideration of the 2018 rule which is banned on old trains. The Supreme Court has been requested to instruct the Central Government or Air Quality Management Commission (CAQM) to conduct a comprehensive scientific study. This study will assess the real environmental impact of the ban imposed on the basis of the age of vehicles and evaluate whether the step contributes significantly to air quality improvement in the National Capital Region (NCR).
The petition emphasized that the impact and fairness on the complete ban on all vehicles should be re -examined. The government advocates a more accurate, emission-based regulatory structure that takes into account air pollution and fitness of the vehicle instead of the age of the vehicle. The current rule demands uniform compliance for all vehicles, whether they are very polluting or well -maintained, low -use vehicles. This does not coincide with a broader goal of effectively reducing pollution levels in the region.
The Delhi government said that BS-6 vehicles, which have been brought under the clean emission standard, cause much less pollution than BS-4 vehicles. The government argued that many vehicles currently affected by the restrictions are well maintained and follow the necessary criteria. Citing various studies, the government has said that pollution is very low from older trains. This ban is putting unnecessary burden on middle class people, which use these trains as limited but as needed. The government wants more scientific and fair measures to be taken for pollution control.
