Gau mata rajmata status: In Uttar Pradesh, the demand for the status of ‘Rajmata’ to ‘Gau Mata’ is gaining momentum. This issue remains the subject of religious and cultural importance as well as political discussion. Amid the activism of ‘Gau Seva Commission’ and ‘Cow Protection Committees’, Gausvaks hopes that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will fulfill this demand during his tenure.
Increasing importance of giving ‘Rajmata’ status to ‘Gau Mata’
Citing the words of Tulsidas ji, “Do not know the Tulsi tree. Don’t know the cow. Writer Ashok Kumar Mishra has urged not to make a mistake of considering the cow as only an animal, but described him as the form of God. This demand has been rising from time to time in various states, but unofficially only Maharashtra has given the status of ‘Rajyamata-Gomata’ on 30 September 2024.
Cow conservation efforts in other states
In other states also important steps have been taken for cow protection and promotion, although the formal status of ‘Rajmata’ has not been given:
Chhattisgarh: ‘Godhan Nyaya Scheme’ was launched in 2021, under which cow dung is purchased from farmers.
Uttarakhand: Cow Service Commission and Gaushala policy have been formulated. In 2023, there were reports of consideration of ‘Rajmata’ status, but no announcement was made.
Madhya Pradesh: ‘Cow Promotion Board’ is active and ‘Gau Cabinet’ was established in 2021. ‘Go Seva Commission’ is also working.
Uttar Pradesh: A proposal to declare ‘cow as a national mother’ was passed in the assembly, but the ‘Rajmata’ status is still pending at the state level. Here also ‘cow protection committees’ and ‘Go Seva Commission’ are active.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Gau Seva
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who is also the Mahant of Gorakshpeeth (Goraksha means ‘Go Raksha’), understands the glory of cow well. In a program of Gausseva Commission, he himself mentioned the miracles of Gausseva. He told how he was cured by applying mentally deranged people in Gaushala in Gaushala.
‘Lalu Bhai’ decades -old struggle
In Uttar Pradesh, Gausavak Lalu Bhai has been struggling for the last several decades to give “Gau Mata” the status of ‘Rajmata’. He has moved from Lucknow to Vrindavan for the last nearly 2 years, where he prays to the status of ‘Rajmata’ to Gaumata by visiting Radha Rani in the circumambulation of Vrindavan every day. He has also given memorandum to more than a hundred politicians of the state for this goal in the last few decades and continues to pray to the saints of Braj Mandal. Lalu Bhai is confident that Yogi ji will give Gau Mata the status of ‘Rajmata’ during his tenure.
UP government’s cow protection and promotion initiatives
Many institutions are engaged in an attempt to get ‘Rajmata’ status to ‘Gau Mata’. The Uttar Pradesh government is also currently engaged in making the cowsheds self -reliant. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a comprehensive plan for the production and marketing of Panchgavya products made from cow dung, cow urine, milk, curd and ghee has been prepared, which will be implemented soon. With this initiative, rural women are expected to become self -sufficient and local youth will get new employment opportunities.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had strictly banned Gotkari and illegal slaughterhouses in his first term. Also, a large number of cow shelters were constructed for destitute cow dynasties. Now his intention is to encourage people towards natural farming through these cow shelters.
Currently some of the major cow-welfare schemes and achievements of the Yogi government:
So far, more than 7700 cow shelters have been made, about 12.5 lakh destitute bovines have been kept.
Under the ‘Mukhyamantri Participation Scheme’, about 1 lakh beneficiaries have been given 1.62 lakh destitute bovine, in which ₹ 1500 is given to every beneficiary per month.
Vermi compost units will be set up in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture to make Go shelter centers self -sufficient.
Under the ‘Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana’, 50% subsidy will be given to cattle ranchers on loans of banks to conserve, enhance and increase milk production of 25 species of indigenous breed cows.
Under the ‘Amrit Dhara Yojana’, on raising two to ten cows, the government will provide a subsidized loan of up to ₹ 10 lakh through banks on easy conditions, which will not require any guarantor for grant of up to ₹ 3 lakh.
In the budget presented, a provision of ₹ 2000 crore has been made for the conservation of the holiday cow dynasty, while the first supplementary budget also had a provision of ₹ 1001 crore.
The cost of construction of large cow shelter centers has been increased to ₹ 1.60 crore, and the construction of 543 centers has also been approved.
All these efforts are making significant progress towards cow protection and promotion in Uttar Pradesh, and the hopes of getting ‘Rajmata’ status to ‘Gau Mata’ are also increasing.
