Odisha sexual harassment: A heartbreaking case has come to light in Odisha. Here, a student of Fakir Mohan College, troubled by physical abuse, tried to commit suicide by setting herself on fire. The victim’s body was scorched 90 to 95% due to the fire. He is currently on ventilator in the ICU ward of Bhubaneswar AIIMS. Today on Sunday, Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi reached the hospital and met and said that a meeting has been held with the doctors of Delhi AIIMS, if the need is read, the student will be airlifted and the government will bear the entire cost of treatment.
What is the whole matter?
The entire case is of B.Ed. Second Year at Fakir Mohan College. Here some students complained about mental and physical abuse against Sameer Kumar Sahu, HOD of Integrated B.Ed. Department. The girls say that Sameer Sahu demanded a physical relationship and was harassing mental harassment. The troubled student had complained to the principal, but no action was taken. Due to which the student tried to commit suicide by setting herself on fire.
What did the principal tell?
On this matter, the college principal Dilip Kumar Ghosh says that on June 30, I had a complaint against HOD Sameer Sahu. We had formed an internal complaint committee on this matter, which was reported in 7 days. But the students were demanding immediate action. Today the student came to meet me, I also explained to her, but she said that she could not wait anymore and then she left. About 20 minutes later, it was found that the student had set herself on fire.
Government action
The Odisha government has immediately suspended the principal, assuming the negligence of the college administration on this matter. Also, the police has arrested the principal. A high level committee has also been formed by the government to investigate the matter.
