New Delhi: Due to heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh, 249 roads are closed for the movement of vehicles, of which 207 are in Mandi district. These roads have been most affected by landslides. Local officials gave this information. Due to heavy rains, the National Highway- Three (Attari-Leh) between Mandi to Dharampur (Kotli) has been closed for heavy vehicles. The Mandi-Kullu section of the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway had to be closed for about 10 hours due to landslides late on Friday night at Kachi Mor near Pandoh Dam in Mandi. After this, the vehicles were sent by the Katoula-Kamand alternative route. Due to which the traffic on this route has slowed down and the line of trains was installed.
Officials said that the traffic had to be stopped due to the debris and stone falling on the road, which caused the passengers to face problems. Later, traffic was restored from one side on the road after about 10 hours after removing the debris. Since the monsoon came in the state on June 20, there has been a loss of about Rs 751 crore so far. According to the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), 463 power transformers and 781 water supply schemes in the state have been disrupted due to rain and floods.
Since Friday evening, many parts of the state have been receiving heavy rains. Murari Devi has recorded the maximum rainfall of 126 mm. People are upset due to heavy growth in different areas of the state. Local people are facing trouble when the roads are closed due to landslides. Pandoh has recorded 79 mm, 67.7 mm in slapper, 60.4 mm in Kothi, 53.2 mm in Mandi. At the same time, Jogindernagar received 53 mm, Bhuntar 47.6 mm, Bharadi 40 mm, Neri has received 34 mm of rain.
Sundernagar, Murari Devi, Bhuntar and Kangra rained with thunderstorms while Neri, Cibagh and Kukumseri had strong winds at a speed of 39 to 48 kilometers per hour. The local Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ till July 18 on heavy rains at some places in 10 districts. Since the onset of monsoon, 56 people have died in rain -related incidents in the state and 36 people have died in road accidents, while 172 people have been injured and 33 people are missing.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in many districts of Uttarakhand. Light to moderate rains may occur in Udham Singh Nagar, Bageshwar, Pauri, Nainital and Pithoragarh districts. In these districts, thunder light lightning has also been predicted. In view of the increased threat of landslides after the rain, the district administration has increased monitoring in sensitive areas. In the past, many times, conditions like holidays, prohibition on travel and landslides have been revealed in schools. People have been appealed to avoid unnecessary travel and especially keep distance from landslides possible places in hilly areas.
