Foreign Minister of India Dr. S. Jaishankar will participate in a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to be held in Tianjin city of China next week. This was confirmed by China’s Foreign Ministry. This meeting is taking place at a time when there has been tension in the Indo-China relations since the military clashes of June 2020 in Eastern Ladakh. This will be Jaishankar’s first visit to China when the dispute took place.

This SCO Foreign Ministers’ council meeting will be held on 15 July in Tianjin. China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi will preside over this meeting. It will include the Foreign Minister of the member countries and officials of the major bodies of the organization. The main center of discussion will be cooperation in various fields of SCO and discussion on major global and regional issues.

There are a total of 10 country members in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Which includes India, China, Russia, Iran, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Belarus.

There may be a possible bilateral talks between India and China

According to sources, Dr. Jaishankar may reach China on 13 July and he is likely to have bilateral talks with Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. This dialogue is happening at a time when tension on the border between the two countries continues. The conversation may discuss topics such as banning LAC to normalize the situation on the LAC and re -activating the mechanisms associated with the restrictions imposed on the export of minerals, strategic relationships and border solutions.

Rajnath Singh and NSA Doval also went to China

Earlier in June, India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also visited China and attended a meeting of SCO Defense Ministers in Chingdao. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has also visited China. In these meetings, India demanded a concrete plan to resolve complex issues. In which it was said to reduce the border tension and restart the demarcation process.

Wang Yi’s possibility of visiting India

Meanwhile, there are also indications that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi may come to India this month. Where they can meet Ajit Doval under the boundary talks of special representatives. Till now, 23 rounds of talks have been held between the two countries at this level. But no final solution has been found. Currently China is the president of the SCO and in this role he is hosting the major meetings of the organization.
