Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Tuesday targeted the action of the Yogi government against madrasas. He said that instead of cooperating the attitude of the government against the private system of madrasas etc., it is unnecessary and unfair to further weakening the need for basic education by calling them illegal.
Attacking the Yogi government, he said that if the government changed its attitude towards private madrasas, it is better. Along with this, Mayawati expressed concern that the admission of 22 lakh children in the schools of the state has declined this year. He advised the state government that it is necessary to pay proper attention to the importance and need of education.
Mayawati posted three posts on the social media platform X. BSP chief Mayawati wrote in the first post, “1.74 crore admissions were made in the primary and upper primary schools of UP in 2023-24, but in 2024-25 only 1.52 crore ie school admission declined by about 22 lakhs, such a bad situation of government school system is serious and concerned.
In the second post, Mayawati wrote, “Yet the attitude of the government against the private system of madrasas etc. under the cheap and accessible system, instead of cooperating, the closure of them by calling them illegal and the closure of them is more unnecessary and unfair to weaken the need for basic education. It is better to change its attitude towards private madrasas.”
He finally wrote on the social media platform X in the post, “Although the conditions of government schools are very bad in most states of the country, but due to being highly in UP and Bihar, the much-awaited development of Bahujan poor families disrupted and the future of their children is dark. In such a situation, instead of closing school education, it is necessary to encourage them.”
