Bengaluru. After the Supreme Court’s directive (after Supreme Court’s Order) Kamal Haasan’s film ‘Thug Life’ will be released in Karnataka (will relayase in Karnataka). The Supreme Court, while hearing the petition filed in this case on Thursday, directed the Karnataka government that the release of the film did not cause any obstruction and ensure complete security.
The Karnataka government filed an affidavit in the court saying that the release of the film has not been banned. The government assured that if the film is released, complete security will be given. The Supreme Court warned the government that if a group disruptions the release, it should be strictly dealt with.
During the hearing, the court asked the petitioner, “Have you complained to the police against those who threatened? Just to say that there is no restriction, not enough. There is no end to hurt the emotions. Stand-up comedian says something, sabotage is there. Where are we going?” Actually, some groups in Karnataka protested against the release of ‘Thug Life’. The petitioner had demanded from the court that action should be taken against the statements that spread hatred and violence.
The court said that it is the responsibility of the state to take strict action against those who commit violence. “We cannot let it happen that the film is not released due to a statement, the comedian should be prevented from doing the show or someone from reading poetry.” The Karnataka government said that it is their duty to provide security and they will do so.
The film Chamber of Commerce had asked Kamal Haasan to apologize to the actor’s controversial remarks on Kannada language. Along with this, he was also threatened with ban. The government clarified that there is no restriction despite the censor board certificate. If the film is released, security will be provided. This decision has brought great relief to Kamal Haasan and the fans of the film.
