Kanpur news: The working style and development works of gram panchayats in Kanpur Nagar will now be assessed in a transparent and scientific manner. For this, a workshop was organized in the auditorium at Sarsaiya Ghat on Thursday with the Panchayat Upgradation Index (PAI) version 2.0.
The purpose of this workshop organized under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh was to make various departments aware of the process of PAI. Also, for the empowerment of gram panchayats, steps were to be taken towards data based evaluation.
The District Magistrate said that now the progress of panchayats will be evaluated on the basis of 174 specific indices associated with 12 departments. These indices have been linked to 9 major areas of the Sustainable Development Target (SDG). These include standards like sanitation, nutrition, education, water conservation, environmental protection, gender equality and social inclusion.
Each gram panchayat will upload data based on these indices at its level on its level. After this, a report will be sent to the district headquarters by verifying the block level by the concerned departments. The final data will determine the ranking of panchayats by going to the state level. The best performing panchayats will be honored by the state government.
During the workshop, departmental officers were given detailed information about PAI portal, indicator format, verification process and ranking method. The officials were expected to give active support to the gram panchayats in this process under their departmental responsibilities.
The District Magistrate directed the officials that the effectiveness of development schemes will be ensured only when accurate data is collected at the gram panchayat level. These figures should be used in useful plan construction. PAI is an important step in this direction.
Chief Development Officer Deeksha Jain, Divisional Director Social Vaniki Divya, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Haridutt Nemi, Project Director DRDA, District Agricultural Officer, District Agricultural Officer, District Agricultural Officer, District Social Welfare Officer and Chief Veterinary Officer and other officials were present in the workshop.
