Lucknow News: Dr. Amod Kumar Sachan, who is suspended by the KGMU Pharmacology Department, has been dismissed three days before retirement. This action has been taken against private practice, earning profit from private institution and being a board of directors of various institutions. The decision was taken at the KGMU Executive Council meeting on Saturday. This is the first time that a doctor of KGMU has been dismissed on charges of private practice. The investigation of the case has been under investigation for about one and a half years.
Meeting held under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor
In the board room of the Vice Chancellor’s office, the Vice Chancellor of the Executive Council was chaired by Dr. Sonia Nityananda. The case of Dr. Amod Sachan was kept in the meeting. Other allegations including private practice were placed. Dr. Sachan’s answer was not satisfied with the office. Therefore, the Executive Council decided to dismiss them.
Decision in eight days
The Emergency meeting of the Executive Council was held on July 4. In this, he was given 180 -page notice. The notice was to respond in six days. However, he sought more time to answer. After this, on July 10, the Emergency Executive meeting was held again. It was refused to give extra time.
Practice accused earlier also
For the first time in the history of KGMU, action has been taken against a doctor on charges of private practice. Earlier, a case of private practice was also raised even during the time of former Vice Chancellor Dr. Saroj Chudamani Gopal. The KGMU administration conducted videography. In which many doctors were imprisoned doing private practice. Many MLAs etc. also made complaints. But there was no punitive action against anyone in the case of private practice. During the tenure of Vice Chancellor Dr. Sonia Nityanand, many doctors were also accused of private practice. Affidavits were also taken from all doctors for not being involved in private practice. In the year 2023, the chairman of a department at KGMU got caught up in private practice. The secret of private practice was revealed after the death of the patient after treatment in a private hospital. The aggrieved family members provided complaints and evidence to the KGMU administration. The KGMU administration conducted an inquiry. After investigation, the Executive Council decided to give the charge sheet to the doctor. After giving the charge sheet, no action was taken against the head of the department. Similarly, the chairman of another department was accused of private practice. The name of investigation is being done.
This complaint filed against me is completely false
Dr. Amod Kumar Sachan said on this matter that the allegations against me are baseless and concocted. This action has been taken three days before retirement only for the purpose of tarnishing my reputation, hurting personal and professional dignity. This act is inspired by a corrupt mentality and malicious intentions. The purpose of which is only to defame and torture me mentally. I also want to tell the society that my connection with KGMU has always been based on teaching and deep loyalty to service. I have served as the chairman of the Department of Pharmacology. Many innovative and influential initiatives were started during his tenure. These include prescription audit, establishment of pharmacovislance center and DM Pharmacology courses. I have dedicated the priceless 23 years of my life to the institute.
