Mathura News: Mathura, 15 July. Protests in Mathura have intensified in protest against the objectionable remarks made by Vrindavan’s famous Bhagavatacharya Anirudhacharya on the character of women and women. On Friday, hundreds of advocates led by Mathura Bar Association expressed their anger by burning an effigy of Anirudhacharya in the court premises.
Disputed statement: comment on women’s character and advocacy of child marriage
The controversy began when Anirudhacharya said during the narrative that “the character of girls 25–26 cannot be trusted”, and she advocated to marry at the age of 14. Advocates and social organizations have described this statement as insulting women and giving wrong direction to society.
“Religious forums should not be misused” – Demand for advocates
Protest advocates said that making such comments from a holy platform like Vyaspeeth is not only against religious dignities, but it also affects social fabric. Bar Association Secretary Shivkumar Lavania said that on Thursday, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) was demanding an FIR against the narrator.
Lawyers will turn to court if FIR is not there
Advocates have warned the administration that if an FIR is not lodged against Anirudhacharya till Monday, they will file an application in the court and demand action under the legal process. He also demanded from the administration that such rhetoric should be banned on religious forums in future.
Strict action should be taken against those who give wrong messages to society
The protesters say that such statements spread confusion and unrest in the society.
