Lucknow News: Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, has achieved a historical achievement in the field of cleanliness. Lucknow has secured third place in the entire country in the recently released ranking of Swachh Survekshan-2024. Lucknow has made a big jump of 41 points by reaching the 3rd position directly from the last 44th position. According to this ranking, the shared efforts of the Municipal Corporation and the citizens have completely changed the picture of Lucknow in the field of cleanliness.
Ahmedabad first-Bhopal in second place
In the Swachh Survekshan-2024, Ahmedabad has achieved the distinction of becoming the cleanest city in the country. Ahmedabad was in fifth place last year. This time, he has got the first place by jumping four places. At the same time, Bhopal also performed well last year, this time it has been second. However, the biggest achievement of Lucknow has been the third place, leaving behind many big cities.
President will be honored on 17 July
President Draupadi Murmu will provide honors to the Municipal Corporation at the honor ceremony to be held on July 17 in New Delhi. The ceremony will also honor other top performing cities across the country. This is not only a major achievement for the Lucknow Municipal Corporation, but will also become a source of inspiration for the city in the coming years. In the last one year, the Municipal Corporation has taken several concrete and practical steps regarding cleanliness.
Strategy and hard work of success
The corporation, led by the Municipal Commissioner, has given priority to waste management, door-to-door collection, sorting of domestic waste, composting, cuts in plastic use and other campaigns. Along with this, technical measures such as digital surveillance system, CCTV based cleaning inspection, cleaning workers’ GPS monitoring, ranking system at ward level and feedback based evaluation were adopted.
Important role of awareness campaigns
Public participation and awareness campaign has played a big role in the success of cleanliness. The Municipal Corporation, along with schools, colonies, business organizations, NGOs and social organizations, continued to spread awareness about cleanliness. It has been successful in cleaning the citizens through campaigns like ‘Cleanliness Hi Seva’, ‘No Plastic Day’, ‘Swachh Survekshan Week’.
Public associated with cleanliness app and helpline
The Municipal Corporation has also launched a clean Lucknow app, so that the citizens have been able to register their complaints directly. Apart from this, there has been a quick solution to the problems related to waste through WhatsApp and helpline numbers. ‘Swachh Lucknow’ was run as a campaign on social media, in which the youth participated enthusiastically. It has always been a challenge to maintain cleanliness in a fast growing metropolis like Lucknow.
