Lucknow News: According to the instructions of CM Yogi Adityanath against fake drug business in Uttar Pradesh, the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department has taken strict action. The concerned officials of the department said in the review meeting that fake medicines worth Rs 30 crore 77 lakh have been seized in the year 2024-25.
The Food Safety and Drug Administration Department conducted 1039 raids in the entire state during this period, in which 13,848 samples were compiled. Licenses of 1166 drug traders found involved in fake drug business were revoked, along with 68 people have been arrested. The maximum action was taken in the cities of Agra, Lucknow and Ghaziabad, where fake drugs as well as oxytocin injections, narcotics drugs and fake cosmetic products were also seized.
Department canceled licenses of 1166 drug traders
Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department took strict action against fake drugs and construction companies. In this sequence, the concerned officials of the department inspected 463 drug manufacturing units, 647 blood banks and 10,462 sales establishments in the year 2024-25.
During this period, 1039 raids were conducted in the entire state, in which 13,848 samples were compiled. In the test, 96 samples were found to be fake and 497 inferior. Due to this, licenses of 1166 drug traders found involved in fake medicine business were revoked, along with 68 people have been arrested. Licenses of 06 drug manufacturing units and 05 blood banks have also been canceled as well as fake medicines worth about Rs 30 crore 77 lakh were seized. Which is twice as compared to the previous year.
The most fake drug traders caught in Lucknow, Agra and Ghaziabad
Officials of the Department of Food Safety and Drug Administration said that most of the action in this regard was taken in Lucknow, Agra and Ghaziabad districts. He said that many major actions were taken against oxytocin injections and fake medicines in collaboration with STF in the capital Lucknow. Whereas in Agra, fake medicines worth Rs 1.36 crore were seized on 5 November 2024 and Narcotics drugs worth Rs 0.9 crore on 6 February 2025 in Ghaziabad. Fake cosmetic products worth Rs 0.5 crore were seized in April 2025 in Bareilly.
In addition, strict action was also taken in the case of abduction of allopathic drugs under the guise of Ayurvedic medicines, in which 14 suspected samples are under investigation. This action against fake medicines in the state is considered to be the biggest against drug mafia in the country. This action will not only protect public health, but will also effectively curb illegal drug trade. The government has resolved to intensify such actions in future also.
