Meerut News: The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has once again given a chance to proud the entire NCR including Meerut. In the ET Infra Rail Show Awards 2025, NCRTC has been rewarded in three highly competitive categories, which is proof that the Namo Bharat Corridor being built in Meerut is not just a transport project, but the future India.
NCRTC has received this honor in categories ‘Best Track Laying Technology’, ‘Best Project Timilight for MRTS/RRTS’ and ‘Best Integrated Property Development/Transit Oriented Development’ categories. The award ceremony was held on Friday, 13 June in Delhi.
On this occasion, NCRTC spokesperson Puneet Vats said, “It is not just an award, but the identity of the visionary thinking and tireless hard work that our team has shown. Namo Bharat project is not only technically advanced, but it is the beginning of a new chapter of urban development throughout the NCR. Meerut has become the focal point of this change.”
Revolution in track technology
In the ‘Best Track Laying Technology’ category, NCRTC was awarded for pre-cast slab track technology, which is being used in such a big project for the first time in the country. This technique not only makes high-speed train operations (160 km/h) possible, but also has a minimum vibration and noise, which travelers experience a stable and comfortable journey.
‘Namo India’ is running on time
The achievement of NCRTC in the ‘Best Project Turgeon’ is particularly important because infrastructure projects in India are often delayed. But NCRTC started the 17 km priority section from Sahibabad to Duhai depot in October 2023 despite a global challenge like Kovid. Currently, services are going on on the 55 km long corridor and in the year 2025, the entire 82 km corridor is planned to open to the public.
Meerut became the role model of Tod policy
The honor received in the category ‘Best Integrated Property Development/Transit Oriented Development’ is a major achievement for Meerut. According to spokesperson Puneet Vats, “NCRTC played an important role in implementing TOD (transit oriented development) at the ground level. Meerut became the first city in the country that included TOD Zone in its master plan 2031.” The Meerut Development Authority has identified the area of about 3273 hectares for TOD, with a 2400 hectare area divided into seven TOD zones and two special development areas.
Proud moment for Meerut
These three awards are not only a proof of the technical superiority of NCRTC, but it is also a matter of pride for a city like Meerut, which is now playing a leading role in India’s urban development model, not only a historic city.
Puneet Vats said, “Through the Namo Bharat Corridor, Meerut is becoming a new identity of the urban future. This project is based on the triangle of technology, speed and sustainable development, and in the coming time it will decide the direction of development of cities.”
