Haapur News: The monsoon has knocked, but the preparation of the city administration is incomplete and full of negligence. Most of the city’s drains are covered with silt, waste and frozen dirt. Due to lack of cleanliness for years, grasses have grown in many drains. In such a situation, waterlogging is fixed during the rains and this will make not only the drain but also the road pits and open menholes invisible. The direct threat to this will start to hover over the lives of passers -by and drivers.
Open drains and pits can become fatal
Many colonies of the city are neither covered nor any wall or security enclosure on the roads along the roads. A slight omission can push someone directly into the drain. The same situation is also with open pits of open manhole and roads, which hide in rain water. Last year, many innocent children fell into open drains in Garhmukteshwar, Pilkhuwa and Dhaulana. In Garhmukteshwar, the body of a child could not be recovered till date.
What is the solution? Citizens themselves become alert
The hope of any improvement from the municipal bodies and responsible officers now seems wasted. In such a situation, citizens will have to identify their paths and take measures for safe movement themselves:
Caution suggestions:
• Put bamboo or bulls on the banks of the drains.
• Put warning boards on open mainhole or pits.
• Plant saplings near drains with the help of local people, so that the identity of the location remains.
• Keep information about culverts, broken roads and open structures yourself and also alert people around.

Administration response
ADM Sandeep Kumar said that parallel drains of roads are opened in many places and pits and menhole are also seen in some places. Instructions have been given to repair them. Also, arrangements are being made to install warning boards and clean water flow in the event of waterlogging.
