Now the WCL statement has also come in this case, which said that he had already informed the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) that they could not hold India-Pakistan contest. He also made it clear that the Indian team is not responsible for the cancellation of the match.
Before this high-voltage match played at Edgbaston, Birmingham, WCL issued an official statement to confirm the cancellation of the match. According to several reports, many former India players refused to play against Pakistan.
The reason for this was told to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April, in which Indian tourists were killed. After this attack, diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan worsened, due to which the players had distanced themselves from the match.
WCL sources said that Pakistan is not ready to distribute points with India. He says that the match was canceled because India refused to play.
WCL sources on this matter told ANI- We have told England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) that we (WCL) were unable to organize the match, there is no fault of India in this. On the other hand, the Pakistan Champions team says that India is back, we do not want to share points.
Many Indian cricketers including Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan had confirmed the media that they would not take part in the India-Pakistan match. Sources also told that other players of India’s team have also taken a similar decision. Shikhar Dhawan informed through the email sent to social media posts and tournament organizers that he had decided not to play against Pakistan on 11 May itself. Dhawan wrote in his post- The steps taken on May 11, I am standing the same today. My country is everything for me, and nothing is more than the country.
In the last session of WCL, the India Champions team defeated Pakistan Champions by five wickets in the final. Chasing the target of 157 runs, India won a strong performance and won the title.
