Police in Siddharthnagar foiled a major maize smuggling attempt at the Nepal border. 50 sacks of maize were seized and one smuggler was arrested. The vehicle and goods were handed over to the Customs Department.

Siddharthnagar News: Siddharthnagar, 11 July. The Chilhi police station of the district has achieved great success as part of the campaign against smuggling on Nepal border. On Monday, the police recovered 50 sacks of maize from a pickup vehicle and arrested a smuggler. Efforts were being made to sell the recovered maize from Nepal illegally to India.

Action on informant information

Before executing this action, the police had received secret information that the pickup vehicle number UP 55 T 9210 is being brought to Mecca from Nepal. On the basis of information, intensive checking operation was carried out in front of the police station gate. During the checking, the pickup vehicle was stopped and searched, in which a total of 50 sacks of maize were recovered.

Identification of arrested smuggler

The driver has been identified as Istkhar son Mohammed Shami, a resident of Shoratgarh police station area, district Siddharthnagar. He was arrested from the spot and further process was started under necessary legal action.

Seizure submitted to Customs Department

The arrested accused and seized goods have been handed over to the Customs Department, Badhani for further legal action. According to the police, Mecca was illegally crossed the border from Nepal and brought to India, which was to be sold here.

Action taken under the direction of senior officials

The entire action was carried out under the instructions of Superintendent of Police Dr. Abhishek Mahajan, Additional Superintendent of Police Prashant Kumar Prasad and Jurisdictional Shoratgarh Sujit Kumar Rai under the leadership of Inspector Ramdev. During this, Sub Inspector Rajesh Yadav, Constable Dinesh Yadav and Constable Sikander played an active role.
