Up congress: The workshop was organized by the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee’s Right to Information (RTI) department on Saturday at the headquarters. In this workshop, senior leaders and workers associated with RTI department across the state along with Lucknow district/city officials attended. This state level program was conducted by RTI Department State General Secretary Kirti Prakash Pandey.

RTI Act Congress

Addressing the program as the chief guest, Congress national spokesperson and former MLA Akhilesh Pratap Singh said that the RTI Act is a historic gift of the Congress government, which is a strong medium to highlight the corruption of the government. He called upon the officials present to file questions to the government by filing at least 10 RTI applications and decide the accountability in the public interest.

RTI a mirror of democracy

National spokesperson Surendra Rajput described RTI as a mirror of democracy and said that the present BJP government is trying to weaken the RTI law. He urged the workers to unite and fight against the attack. RTI activist Deveshmani Tripathi, who is involved as special guests, replied in detail the questions of the officials by sharing technical information about the process, rights and use of law.

Raise voice against corruption

Right to Information Department Chairman Pushpendra Srivastava said that the officials should raise their voice against corruption through RTI in their districts. While sharing his experiences, Dr. Amit Utwal, Senior Vice President of the department, said that he has exposed many government irregularities in his district through RTI. Former Minister Raj Bahadur, Vice Chairman of Media Department Manish Srivastava Hindvi also expressed their views on the occasion.

Resolve to accountability from RTI

At the end of this workshop, the officials pledged that they would play an active role in the public interest by fixing the accountability of the government through RTI. The workshop was attended by State Vice President of Right to Information Department, Dr. Amit Utwal, Seema Devnath, Mahendra Shrivastava, Anuj Patel, Kishan Kumar Gupta, Ram Ashish Maurya, Najakat Chaudhary, Mansoor Ali Salmani, Shashanna, Ramanand Rajput, Lucknow District/City Chairperson Maya Singh and Virendra Kumar Maurya.
