Desk: Russia and America relationships are deteriorating rather than improving. Where Donald Trump wanted to compromise between Russia-Ukraine and where is now the US is knocking in Putin’s eyes. Russian President Vladimir Putin is not tolerating even American apps in their country. Now he has also arranged for a farewell from Russia of the worldwide popular messaging app Whatsapp.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has taken another step towards banning foreign messaging apps in the country. He has appealed to the authorities to stop using foreign messaging platforms like WhatsApp and adopt the National Messenger service to be developed over the next few years.
Whatsapp is the last major foreign messaging app used in Russia at this time. Now the Russian government is preparing to remove it and bring a safe and indigenous option developed in the country. As part of this initiative of President Putin, the Russian Parliament (Duma) has passed a federal law, which will decide the rules and regulations regarding the development of messaging service and its use.
Confirming this, Kremlin spokesperson Dimitri Peskov said that the service would be completely based on Russian-made software and unified with the portal of government services Gosusususususalugi. With this, users will be able to verify their identity, upload digital documents, register transactions and also share authentic documents through electronic signature.
Peskov said – ‘Development of National Messenger is a welcome step provided they can compete globally. We want its quality to be best and it is better than foreign options. He insisted that the more competition, the better the products will be revealed. He said that messaging apps all over the world flourish in the competition itself. In our country too, not one, but many national messengers should be developed.
This step is part of the global trend in which many countries are developing their local communication platforms for messaging and cyber security. China, Vietnam, Japan and South Korea have already developed their homegron messaging apps and now Russia is also moving in the same direction. This is not only technical self -reliance but also an important step from cyber control and political perspective. Through this, Russia wants to save its information from being transmitted to America in any way.
