Police have recovered the stolen license made in Germany rifle and cartridges from a rented house in Ambedkar Nagar Ward-11 of Robertsganj Kotwali area within 24 hours. The police have arrested the accused in the case and sent them to jail. This action was made possible by the direction of Additional Superintendent of Police Headquarters Anil Kumar and the vigilance of the team of station in -charge Gopal Ji Gupta.
Thieves entered in search of cash, if not found, then the rifle was blown away
The incident took place on the night of 18 July 2025, when Zilla Panchayat contractor Lallan Singh went home with his licensed pistol due to excessive rains. But his uncle Bhupendra Pratap Singh’s Made in Germany Rifle (.275 bore) and cartridges were left in the same rented house. On the morning of July 19, when the manager Govind Kumar Gupta reached the house, he saw that the locks of two rooms were broken.
Rifle and cartridges found missing from the cupboard
On reaching the spot, Lallan Singh and Bhupendra Pratap Singh came to know that the rifle and 20 cartridges (.275 bore) were missing from the cupboard. Apart from this, 80 cartridges of .315 bore rifle, pistol (.45 model) and 70 bullets of .315 bore have also been stolen. The police immediately started investigation by registering a case.
Important clue from CCTV footage, accused Suraj Kahar arrested
When the police investigated the CCTV footage near the spot, a suspect was identified. Based on that, the police team arrested Suraj Kahar son Gulab Kahar resident Ward 10, Purba Mohal. During interrogation, he confessed to the theft and told that he had hidden the rifle and cartridges in his rented room near the railway gate.
Police revealed in 24 hours
Additional Superintendent of Police Headquarters Anil Kumar said that the accused Suraj Kahar had stolen the locks of the house with the help of Wrench. The house was empty at that time. The police have recovered the stolen Made in Germany rifle, all cartridges and other items from the accused. A case has been registered against the accused under sections 305 and 331 (4) of BNS.
