New Delhi . The story of an auto rickshaw driver who earned millions of rupees every month in the name of keeping people outside the US Embassy located in the Bandra-Kurla Complex of Mumbai (Bandra-Kurla Complex) was recently on social media. But now this ‘jugaad’ business has come under the target of the police. The police have taken action on the auto driver.

What is the matter?

Venuemonk co-founder Rahul Rupani shared the story of this unique business model in a post on Linkedin a few days ago. He told that when he reached the US Consulate for a visa interview, he did not get permission to take his bag inside. Then an auto driver said to him- “Sir, give the bag, I will keep it safe… is a daily job.”

Rupani handed over the bag by paying Rs 1000 and praised this service fiercely. According to him, the driver was earning 5 to 8 lakh rupees every month. This story was also appreciated by the famous industrialist Harsh Goenka as a “example of Indian jugaad”.

Police action

As soon as the matter went viral on social media, Mumbai Police came into action. The BKC police station summoned 12 other autoists, including the auto driver who was running an illegal ‘locker service’ outside the US embassy.

According to police, the BKC area is a high security zone and there are allowed auto drivers to leave only passengers. The auto people did not have any valid license or permission to serve the bags. In terms of safety, if any goods are lost or as it comes out as it comes out, it can have serious consequences.

License limit fixed

A senior BKC Police official told Hindustan Times that the concerned auto driver has now been instructed to stop the service to keep the bag. He said, “The auto driver is only allowed to bring passengers, not to run a locker service.”
