Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a public meeting in Alipurdar, West Bengal, targeted the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government. Describing TMC as ‘ruthless government’, he said that this government is working against the interests of the poor and common people. PM Modi told the stage here that the people of Bengal are saying that ‘there is a scream, no ruthless government should be called.’

Referring to the incidents of Murshidabad and Malda, PM Modi raised questions about the law and order of the state during the TMC government’s time. During the public meeting, PM Modi laid the foundation stone of the City Gas Distribution Project in Alipurdwar and Cooch Behar from the stage. This project will supply cheap and safe gas through pipelines in more than 2.5 lakh houses. This will not only eliminate the problem of buying cylinders, but will also provide clean energy to the families. The PM described it as an example of the government’s doorstep delivery.

Referring to the Ayushman Yojana, PM Modi said that crores of people are getting free treatment across the country under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana of the Central Government, including elderly over 70 years of age. But the TMC government in West Bengal did not allow the scheme to be implemented, due to which the people of the state are deprived of this benefit. Apart from this, the PM alleged that the people of TMC are charging ‘cut money’ from the poor, while referring to the central government’s plan to give pucca houses to the poor, due to which millions of families are not getting the house. Referring to the Vishwakarma Yojana, the PM said that under this scheme, training and financial assistance is being provided to millions of people across the country, but the TMC government in West Bengal has kept eight lakh applications hanging, due to which this scheme is not being implemented here.

The PM also accused the TMC government of playing with the future of teachers and children. He said that the future of thousands of teachers was ruined during the TMC rule and the future of millions of children was pushed into darkness. The PM also accused TMC of not accepting his mistakes and convicting the court. The PM said that TMC did not spare even the workers working in the tea plantation. Their earnings are being robbed and efforts are being made to save the culprits.

The PM said that the development of Bengal is the foundation of India’s future. The Central Government has launched several projects for the development of the state, including the modernization of Durgapur Expressway and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee port. He said that in 2014 there were less than 14 crore LPG connections in the country, which has now increased to more than 31 crores. Along with strengthening the gas distribution network, the number of distributors has also doubled.

The PM said that West Bengal is necessary for developed India. For this, Bengal will have to be the center of knowledge and ‘Make in India’. The BJP government at the Center is working on the policy of Palmodaya and in the last decade, thousands of crores of rupees have been invested for the development of Bengal. Referring to the cultural and geographical importance of Alipurduar, the PM said that the region is associated with the pride of Bhutan’s border, Assam, Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar. He called upon Bengal to move forward with new energy.
