Alaska A Alaska’s sand point on Wednesday caused an earthquake of 7.3 magnitude (7.3 Magnitude), due to which the National Weather Service issued a warning of tsunami (TSUNAMI). The sand point is located on the northwest Popof Island of the Alaska Peninsula. It is about 600 miles south-west of Alaska’s encounter. According to the USGS (United States Geological Survey), the earthquake occurred 54 miles south of sand point, which was the center at 20 km depth of the earth.
According to the Michigan Technological University, a large earthquake capable of causing severe damage is considered to be a magnitude of 7.0–7.9. Every year only 10-15 earthquakes of this intensity are recorded. The tsunami warning was described as a threat from South Alaska and Alaska Peninsula to the Pacific Coast (Pacific Ocean Coast). Apart from sand points, Alaska cities Cold Bay and Kodiak are also included in the warning sector.
The National Weather Service urged the residents of these areas to move to high places or go to the upper floor of a multi -storey building. Earthquacily active active regions often feel tremors. Emergency service officials are closely monitoring the situation amid the possibility of a possible tsunami. There is no news of any damage in Alaska due to this earthquake. 7.3 After an earthquake of intensity, the chances of aftershock (feeling low -intensity seismic shock) in the coming days are more than 90%.
Pacific tectonic plates and Northern is located on the border of the American plate, the Alusian Islands are known as a hotspot for earthquakes. Since the year 1900, there have been many earthquakes of 8.0 magnitude in this region. The Alusian Islands are 14 main, a series of large volcanic islands and 55 small islands. Most Alusian Islands fall under the US state of Alaska.
