On the one hand, the inter -state gang of cyber fraud of ₹ 1.10 crore has been uncovered, while on the other hand, 6 tappas targeting passengers have also been arrested. In addition, a 24-hour no-parking system is being implemented for the convenience of devotees in Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple area in view of Sawan.
CBI officer becomes ₹ 1.10 crore cyber fraud, 3 arrested
The Varanasi Cybercrime Police has busted an interstate cyber gang who cheated ₹ 1.10 crore by showing fear of digital arrest and CBI investigation. Three cyber criminals including gang leader have been arrested. DCP Crime Saravanan Tea informed about the revelations of this gang in a press conference held at the police line and presented the three accused to the media.
DCP Crime said that the victim Mahesh Prasad was called from unknown numbers and he was described as a police officer. He was intimidated by saying that his name is included in the money laundering of ₹ 538 crore and his Aadhaar card was misused. Fearing CBI investigation and arrest, the victim was “digital arrest” and ₹ 1.10 crore was transferred to various accounts.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sumit Gupta, a resident of Gorakhpur, Utkarsh Verma, a resident of Lakhimpur Kheri and Arvind Verma, a resident of Noida. All three are from Uttar Pradesh. DCP Crime said that these accused used to scare the people by becoming fake police/CBI officers, opening their bank accounts and took their entire kit (passbook, checkbook, ATM card) in their possession. In these accounts, the money was cheated from abroad, which was transferred by transferring through many accounts of the country. In lieu of commission, this gang used to pay their foreign peers in dollars.
DCP Crime revealed that the criminal history of the arrested accused is old. Noida resident Arvind Verma has already gone to jail twice in the case of cyber fraud. At the same time, Sumit Gupta, a resident of Gorakhpur, had gone to jail in a murder case and after being released on bail, he started committing cyber fraud incidents by creating his syndicate. The police is now finding their entire gang and further action will be taken soon. 13 SIM cards, 7 ATM cards, 4 bank passbooks, 1 checkbook, 8 mobile phones and ₹ 70,000 cash have been recovered from the arrested accused.

The Sigra police of Varanasi have revealed a large gang that targeted passengers in the city and cheating. The police have arrested 6 vicious members of this gang, who used to hunt innocent passengers at bus stands, railway stations and other public places. He was arrested from Ner Parking Ground Sigra area. The gang was also revealed by ADCP Kashi Zone Sarvanan Tea in the police line. The police have also recovered cash, mobile phone, ATM card and other theft items from the accused. With this revelation, the 5 cases recorded in Sigra have also been revealed.
ADCP Kashi Zone said that the gang members used to get their PIN and bank details in a conversation with people, calling themselves helpful or other passengers. He used to win trust by sitting with a trolley bag in the bus and sometimes pretending to cry. As soon as the opportunity was received, mobile phones, ATM cards or other valuables were absconding and later took out thousands of rupees from the accounts. Many times, he used to get money online by saying that he had cash, and in return, he used to give such a pack of note in which there were real notes up and down, but there were plain paper filled inside.
The arrested accused include Raja (26), Delhi residents Raja (26), Azad (25), Rinku (24), Lucky (29) and Surab (23). One of the accused is Zeeshan (19), a resident of Madhubani (Bihar). The police team is searching for a suspect in this case. Many complaints have been registered against these accused, including stealing bags from a woman and disappearing millions of jewelry and money, taking ATM PIN of a passenger and cheating more than ₹ 1 lakh, taking mobile and ATM card from a young man from the train and withdraws ₹ 32,359, and stealing the mobile of the person standing at the bus stand and a cheating of ₹ 1.09 lakh. Police have recovered ₹ 70,000 cash, mobile, several ATM cards, passbooks and other items from the accused. A team of 9 policemen including Sub -Inspector Pushkar Dubey, Vikal Shandilya, Abhay Singh Parihar led by Sigra Police Station Sanjay Kumar Mishra carried out this commendable work, for which ADCP Kashi Zone Sarvanan Tea announced a cash reward of ₹ 20 thousand.
