Patna. In Bihar (Bihar) Municipal General Election and by-election, the Election Commission has conducted voting through mobile app for the first time. This is the first time in the country, when voters have voted at home through mobile apps. Several Indian citizens sitting abroad also participated in the polling held on Saturday. These people voted for their favorite candidate via mobile phone. On an average, 69 percent of e-voting occurred, including municipal general election and by-elections.
The facility of e-voting was for those who have difficulty in reaching polling stations, such as elderly, disabled, pregnant women and migrant people. Only those who had registered in advance got the benefit of this facility.
Votes were cast at 489 booths for a total of 136 seats in the Bihar Municipal General Election Election. These include 84 ward councilors, 6-6 Deputy Chief Councilors and Chief Councilor’s seat. The votes will be counted on June 30. Vibha Kumari, a resident of ward number-8 of Pakddayal of East Champaran, became the first e voter in the country. At the same time, Munna Kumar of Ward No-1 became the first voter of the country among the male voters, who held e voting.
Voting was held for 96 posts in Bihar municipal general election on Saturday and 40 posts in by -elections. This time there was an option to cast votes sitting at home. Under this, 80.60% of the voters who had registered in the general election voted. At the same time, 58.38 percent of the voters voted via mobile phones in the by -election. The average of 69.49 percent polling was done through mobile, including general elections and by -elections.
A total of 51 thousand 155 voters had registered for e-voting in Bihar municipal elections. These included 26038 male and 25117 women. The maximum registration was done by 13147 people in Buxar. After the voting, State Election Commissioner Dr. Deepak Kumar described it as a big achievement for Bihar and the country at the press conference in the Commission office. A total of 62.41 percent polling was done in the municipal elections online and under the general process.
The last date for registration for app-based voting was 22 June. Only they were the eligible voters who had already registered. Overseas voters living in Dubai and Qatar also voted.
