New Delhi. Monsoon can knock in Kerala by 25 May this year. IMD means India Meteorological Department has expressed this possibility. The general date for the monsoon in Kerala is June 1. Earlier, the Meteorological Department had expressed possibility that the monsoon could reach the coast of Kerala by 27 May.
How will the weather be
The IMD has informed on Tuesday that the situation is likely to be favorable for the arrival of monsoon in Kerala during the next 4-5 days. Northeast India and Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall during the next 3 days. The Meteorological Department has also stated that during the 20 to 26 May, the west coast (Karnataka, Konkan and Goa and Kerala) and peninsular India may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Northwest India season
The IMD said on Tuesday that Himachal Pradesh on May 23 and 24, there is a possibility of thunderstorms, electricity and strong winds in Uttarakhand during May 21 to 26. Thunderstorms, electricity and strong winds may occur in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan during May 20 to 26. Heavy rains have been expressed at some places in Uttarakhand on 23 and 24 May.
Red alert for four districts of Kerala
The department said that within the next 4-5 days, there have been favorable conditions for the arrival of monsoon in Kerala. The department has issued a red alert for Kasargod, Kannur, Wayanad and Kozhikode districts of Kerala while Orange Alerts for Palakkad, Malappuram and Thrissur. Meanwhile, there is a possibility of a hot wave situation in the areas of North India including Rajasthan.
